Iguá Saneamento announces issuance of sustainable bonds worth R$ 3.8 billion

Iguá Saneamento announced the completion of an infrastructure debenture issuance in the amount of R$3.8 billion.

The issuance was supported by several financial institutions, including XP, which was the lead coordinator, BTG, Bradesco, Itaú, UBS-Banco do Brasil and Banco Votorantim. In addition, the issuance was supported by the BNDES, which subscribed R$ 1.8 billion of the debentures offered.

The debentures were in great demand (1.6 times oversubscribed) for the first series in the amount of R$2 billion and maturing in 20 years. The second series has a maturity of 29 years and was fully subscribed by the BNDES. The issuance success reflects Iguá’s solid positioning and its ability to attract investors and access quality credit in the market to finance its investments and expansion.

The financial resources from this issuance are a relevant part of the financing sources that will contribute to making the investments in water and sanitation possible in the Rio de Janeiro’s operation, in addition to enabling the realization of special projects such as the revitalization of the lagoon complex of Barra da Tijuca and Jacarepaguá.
Under block 2 of the sanitation concession in Rio de Janeiro, approximately 1.2 million people are served in three municipalities in the state, including Miguel Pereira, Paty do Alferes and 18 neighbourhoods in the capital. About 30% of the population residing in these locations does not have adequate access to sewage treatment.

The debenture also obtained the seal of “Sustainable Bond”, being the third issuance of the Iguá in this format. This type of investment offers an opportunity for companies to finance projects and initiatives with a positive impact on the environment and society.

This achievement demonstrates the Company’s commitment to sustainability and ESG practices, towards a more balanced and resilient future, reconciling economic development with the preservation of the environment and the well-being of society.
